Ty Seddon

Chief Technology Officer

Ty Seddon has over 25 years of experience building technology organizations from the ground up. An owner or executive in ten different start-ups, he also has experience architecting big data systems for large organizations such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the state of North Carolina, Johnson Controls and Rotary International.

Ty’s specialty is building expert systems, which leverage artificial intelligence techniques to implement domain expertise with more efficiency and thoroughness than a human can achieve. This field overlaps heavily with Ty’s other interests of business intelligence, data science, big data, and machine learning.

Prior to joining Valspresso, Ty was a founding partner at reUrgency LLC, a custom software development firm based in Lakeland, Florida, where he developed enterprise solutions for Fortune 100 companies and multiple start-ups. reUrgency specializes in Rich Internet Application (RIA) development and mobile development on Android phones, Android tablets, iPhones, and iPads. With Ty’s input, the firm developed a “Rich Framework” that allows it to build 80% of an application in two weeks.

From 2007 to 2010, Ty was a partner and Chief Technology Officer of NavDog, LLC, which developed the World’s First Intelligent Map Search technology. Ty developed the intelligent search algorithms that allowed a user to “explore” a map rather than simply typing keywords. The paradigm shift enabled NavDog’s search engine to learn quickly from the user’s interactions, identifying user intent and preferences in a matter of minutes.

From 1999 through 2005, Ty was a partner of Wildon Software Corporation, a software consulting and contracting company based in North Carolina. As Director of Internet Development, he worked closely with clients such as Law Enforcement Services, the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina, Howard Perry & Walston Realtors, and the Carolina Mudcats, a minor-league baseball team.

Before joining Wildon Software, Ty founded and led the research and development department for e-Builder, which specializes in the design and implementation of Internet-based communication and collaboration tools for large scale construction projects. As the Senior Software Architect/Programming Services Manager, Ty’s focus was in the research and development of project communication and collaboration tools for the Internet.

Prior to that, Ty was Chief Software Engineer for Teacher Support Software, a company dedicated to developing cross-platform multimedia teaching tools. He developed a networked educational game for elementary and middle school computer labs. He also designed a suite of inter-operable applications to assist educators implement their teaching goals, from lesson planning through student testing.

Ty received his undergraduate education through the Computer and Information Science and Engineering Department at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. While there, he participated in the cooperative education program with IBM’s National Support Center as a Marketing Support Representative.
